Randomness
While Ruth has been off chasing monkeys etc., I've been reading a book on the Justason's front deck, doing yoga on the back deck, enjoying the catcalls from a nearby parrot,
making fluffy fluffy pancakes, finding locally made chocolates at the Green Monkey Chocolatier in the Limegrove Mall,
and sipping exotic cocktails at the Bearded Rose bar in the middle of the Limegrove Mall while waiting for our pizzas to be made. Any cocktail with rose petals in it has a permanent home in my heart, err liver.
I've never had a Hawaiian pizza as spicy as they make 'em here and a new pizza-life started for me right here and now.
The signage is awesome.
And I've learned that clocks are for non-locals; time here is much less important. I'm learning to live that way quite well while here.
Mongooses are everywhere and they are as big as small dogs. They were brought here to control the rat population in the sugar cane fields but I'd be more worried about my cat since they aren't producing much sugar cane anymore and I haven't seen any rats around. We've seen mongeese (sp?) darting around while drinking cocktails by the beach and, well, everywhere. We are drinking cocktails; not the mongooses (sp?).
Travelling up and down the road from Bridgetown to Holetown and north can be done on three different bus systems: the actual busses (exact change required) like most of us are accustomed to, reggae buses that are shorter and yellow where they will make change (and also blow plumes of black exhaust and play loud reggae music and drive like absolute maniacs), and vans that honk Boss Hog horns to attract customers and look the dodgiest of all three types.
You can't find an IPA here. I think all the Canadians who come here hoard them.
Walking at a slow pace at 10 AM will make you sweat. This is a not a complaint but I see video from home with snow on the ground and feel like we should stay here until it's gone.
The water and the air are both 28°.
